Im The Hell Outta Here by Steve Vai bass tab (text):Bass Tab for 'I'm the Hell Outta Here' by Steve Vai as played by Billy Sheehan at the Crossroads guitar festival put on by Eric Clapton. To people who use this: just don't take credit for my work, u can play it whenever and wherever, but just don't post this somewhere unless u say that I made this. Also, if u make improvements, additions, corrections, etc. and use my work as a template please give me credit. If not…well I don't know what I'll do. I'll cry. This is what I think it is, not necessarily what it is, blah, blah, blah, disclaimer stuff. O Yeah, I'm skipping the part where they all play each others guitars, and going on to the next part after the harmonics part. D|------------------------------------------------------ A|------------------------------------------------------ E|------------------------------------------------------ For this part of the solo (the part above this paragraph) I find it easier to use tapping. What you do is, put your left index finger (if you're right handed) on the 10th fret, and hold it there. When you tap with your right index finger you should also pull off with your right index finger causing the left index finger positioned on the 10th fret to sound. When you have to use your left ring finger, don't actually tap with it but use like you would for a hammer-on. __RiLiLm RiLiLm RiLiLm RiLiLm RiLiLm RiLiLm RiLiLm RiLiLm RiLiLm RiLiLm RiLiLm G|10-6-7-10-6-7-10-6-7-10-6-7-10-6-7-10-6-7-10-6-7-10-6-7-10-6-7-10-6-7-10-6-7- D|----------------------------------------------------------------------------- A|----------------------------------------------------------------------------- E|----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Same as before only left index finger stays on the 6th fret, and you use your left middle finger like a hammer-on. G|------------------------ D|---/12-10-8-10-8-7-8-7-- A|------------------------ E|------------------------ Slide up from anywhere on the D string to the 12th fret, and then go from there, no tapping. G|---0-0-2-0-3-0-0-2-0-3/5 then hand slapping down the fingerboard D|------------------------ A|------------------------ E|------------------------ This is when Billy taps his hand going lower on the fingerboard as he goes and then he comes back up, all with his finger still on the 5th fret of the G-string. Watch for the timing. G|---10/12-10/12-10/12-10/12-------------------10-12-10-12-10-12-10- D|---------------------------10-12-10-12-10-12---------------------- A|------------------------------------------------------------------ E|------------------------------------------------------------------ G|---12/15-12-10----10------------- D|---------------12----12-10------- A|---------------------------13-10- E|--------------------------------- The first slides from the 10th to the 12th fret on the G-string, are actually played as bends, but are really hard if you don't have really loose strings. This last lick is what I think he plays, but I'm not 100% sure. But if you don't like it you can basically play anything descending a G blues scale and it'll sound good. After this the lead guitar (Steve Vai) takes a short gap filling solo. Then its off to the harmonics. Watch the DVD for the timing when Billy goes. (I'm doing this whole tab from memory of playing the song, I lost my recording of it, and I haven't played it at a gig in a little over a year) If the verse doesn't fit you can play anything in a G blues, but make it rock not swing. Well that's it, I hope u like it and I hope its all correct. If you want to make suggestions for other songs I should tab, or if you think I did a crappy job and should never tab another song in my life tell me. My email is: psbassplayer@hotmail.com O yeah I think I should also tell you that this is the first tab that I have ever written so please be kind and thoughtful with your insults. |
