Equalization tips:

If you are a Krist fan, you should know how he plays the bass, to get that 
punchy sound,
use a compressor (my brother amp has one, so....), or/and try to get a 
brilliant tone
with the equalizer in your amp and bass, then play with a hard pick and hit 
the strings
near the bridge, so the sound will be very bright, because of the string 
tension in that zone.
