A C D E--------------------------------- B---2-----2----------------------- G---2-----2-------0-----0--------- D---2-----2---------2----/4-----4- A-0-----0-------------3-----5-0--- E--------------------------------- Or just skip the arpeggiation and rock out these chords (riff 2)... A C D E--------------------------------- B---2-----2-------1------/3------- G---2-----2-------0------/0------- D---2-----2-------2------/4------- A-0-----0---------3------/5------- E--------------------------------- The stuff in parentheses are Joel's vocals... (I know) Cause I know another way to turn if you go around and look (turn) back. (and I know) Another way to think if you open up your eyes (and I know) Cause I know the way you're brought up and the way you're (the way you think to) supposed to think. (and I know) Cause I know to look before jump and jump before you look. Then this in between verses 4/4 time (riff 3) 2nd time add the harmony, same riff starting up on D instead of G * hit a pinch harmonic here, if you dare! 1 - + - 2 - + - 3 - + - 4 - + - 1 - + - 2 - + - 3 - + - 4 - + - E|--------------------------------|--------------------------------| B|--------------------------------|--------------------------------| G|--------------------------------|--------------------------------| D|------5---------5-454--4--------|------5---------4b5r4b5r4-------| A|--4---------4--------5---454----|--4---------4-------------------| E|3---------3------------------5--|3---------3---------------------| E|--------------------------------|--------------------------------| B|--------------------------------|--------------------------------| G|--------------------------------|--------------------------------| D|-------5---------5-454--4-------|------5---------4---------------| A|---4---------4--------5---454---|--4---------4-------------------| E|-3---------3------------------5-|3---------3---------------------| When going back into the verse, skip the last half of the second measure and transition with a F# > G > A. Go back to riff 2 with more verses... I know) Cause I know another way to breathe if you open up (another way to dream?) your eyes wide. (and I know) Cause I know to take a deep breath and take (take a deep breath) it real clear. (and I know) Cause I know another way to believe when (another way to believe) everything opens up. (and I know) Cause I know to think before you speak and think before you act. When playing riff 3 here, the second time the harmony is the same riff starting on B instead of G... (I know) Another way to blink when everything (everything to breathe) goes wrong. (and I know) Cause I know when life's too short (life's to short) and not so long/hard(?). (and I know) Cause I know the way your brought up and what (what you believe in) you believe in. (and I know) Cause I know to look before you jump and jump before you look. Here, you play riff 3 over and over, usually playing the full 8 beats but sometimes skipping 1 beat and playing it in 7. The drums stay 4/4. The guitar pattern is like this... 8888 8887 8887 8887 8887 8887 (#'s of beats) Then this... F#m > D > C# > D > C# > D > C#>D>C#>D>C#>D>C# Play the whole classical part again, this time an octave up, then more jamming in F#m This is usually the most open ended part of the jam, but when you finally come back, play F#m > G# > A > B > (emphasize the upbeat of the 1 and 3) Into this 4 times (riff 5)... Now repeat everything since the classical part, which would be: More F#m way out there jamming... F#m > G# > A > B > riff 5, 4 times And back into more F#m jamming, mostly a rippin solo over flat out chuggin on F#5 metal style... Exit with this... E------------------------------- B------------------------------- G------------------------------- D-------4---------4---------4-3- A---3---------3---------3------- E-2---------2---------2--------- Now slide up 1 fret and do that riff again 4 more times... Here you do a little stop/start part, play this riff twice, with a pause after each one... (this is the part where on 12/31/02 BB threw in "Hey, its 2003, what the ***!" and "sorry about the curse" into the pauses) E----------------------------- B----------------------------- G----------------------------- D-------5---------5---------5- A---4---------4---------4----- E-3---------3---------3------- Now play that riff a third time, but instead of a pause this time, cut it 1 note short and go immediately into riff 3, then transition into the verse chords again once, holding on the D, and then into riff 1 again, finishing with...
