Ok. Nobody on the internet has tabbed this song. So I took the
liberty of spending grueling hours burning a hole in my album
running back specific parts to FINALLY get this song. Some of
the parts are most likely still a bit wrong. But this song is
exremely difficult to get down. It's a kick ass song with awe-
some guitar work. It's 12 minutes or so and it's basically a
bunch of mini songs put into one. So that's how it will be
tabbed. It's so long that I have to break it up into little
sections. Ok, with that being said...I hope we can all enjoy
this tab!
Tuning: Drop D (DADGBE)
Intro: (two guitars...one is doing feedback)
e-------------------------------------------|
b-------------------------------------------|
g-------------------------------------------|
d-------------------------------------------|
a---(7)~~-7-5h7p5/4-0-----------------------|
D-------------------------------------------|
First Riff (goes to about 1:12 or so)
Guitar 1 (Mikeal)
                  Listen for the time feel
e--------------------------------------------|These are the
b--------3-----0-----------------------------|4 chords used
g--6-----2-----4-----------------------------|for the first
d--6-----0-----2-----1-----------------------|riff. The first
a--4-----x-----0-----0-----------------------|is a stretch. 2nd
D--2-----2-----------1-----------------------|one use ur thumb.

Guitar 2 (Peter)
e-------------------------------------------------------|
b-5~~---------------------5~~\10~-12-(12)b10~-(10)--4~--|
g------7~--(7)b5~--4~-----------------------------------|
d-------------------------------------------------------|
a-------------------------------------------------------|
D-------------------------------------------------------|
That little part as a lot of vibrato usage and some sort of
effect. Hold the notes in Parenthesis and bend them still
holding the same note (when of course indicated with "b")
Second part (break off into the next big riff)
e---------------------------------------------|"^" is the xxx.
b---------------------------------------------|This part is
g---------------------------------------------|just a quick
d--2--x-----------------6-----6---------------|muffle or mute
a--2--x---5h8-7---5h8-7---7h8-----------------|to take up time.
D--2--x---------------------------------------|
      ^
That last little bit flows right into this next main riff.
Guitar 1 (mikeal)
e---------------------------------------------|Repeat how many
b---------------------------------------------|ever times he does
g-------6b~-----------------------------------|it. The first open
d-0-----6b~--00--3-2-0-3-0--5\7---------------|hit is held for
a-0---0h4b~--00--3-2-0-3-0--3\5---------------|a time;the double
D-0----------00--3-2-0-3-0--------------------|open hits together
                                               are quick up & down
                                               strokes to fill time.
Guitar 2 comes in with a little fill after the first few times
guitar 1 plays it's riff.
e-----------------------------|This last part of this little
b-----------------------------|riff is hard to hear. It's close
g-2-5p2---2-----0-------------|enough for gov. work.
d-------5-----3----5-2h3p2p0--|
a-----------------------------|
D-----------------------------|
This continues until the music stops and the lone accoustic
riff breaks in.
e--------------------------------------------|
b--------------------------------------------|
g-----------------------------------0--------|
d---0-----------------------------5---5------|X 3
a-\5-5--4h5p4-0--o--1b~p0---0----------------|
D-------------0--o--1b~p0---0--\6-------0----|
The little o's are open notes just really fast fill stokes.
Then comes this riff; which precedes the same accoustic riff as before
played again, just electrified (maybe a few minor variations)
e--------------------------------------------------|Repeat a
b--------------------------------------------------|few times
g--------------------------------------------------|until the
d--8--5--7--3--5--3--------then back to------------|last time,
a--8--5--7--3--5--3--------the same riff as before-|after the
D--8--5--7--3--5--3--------------------------------|3's, hit
                                                    an 000
                                                    (open)
Let the open strings ring and then fade into slow picking part.
Slow part:
e--------------------------------------------------------|
b----10---10---10-----10-----10--8------8---8--8---------|
g-7----9----9----9-----7--7------7--7-----7--7--7--------|
d-------0----0----0-0--6---6-----5---5-5---5--5--5-------|
a--------------------------------------------------------|
D--------------------------------------------------------|

e----------------------------------------------------------|
b----3------------3--3------------------------3-----7~-----|
g---3------------7--7---------------------7--7-------------|
d--3----x--0---\7--6---4--0-4p0----------7--6---4-0--------|
a------4--------------------------------0------------------|
D------------0------------------3-5-7-0--------------------|
Repeat this a few times. The "875" picking part maybe longer
than indicated. The last "7" note has an ehcoed effect. You can
just strum it and fade out. If you feel comfortable adding a
few extras..mute notes or whatever that's fine, b/c it's really
hard to hear. All the notes aren't audible.
This is repeated several times, until an accoustic part comes
in and is repeated twice.
Accoustic break off part:
Guitar 1 (Mikeal)
e-----5----4~-----------------------------3h4p3/2----2-----2-|
b------5------6-------------------------5-----------0-0---0--|
g-------7-------10----5----------------5-----------------6---|
d-3~--------------10---5-(5)h7--------4-----------------4----|
a------------------------------5----3~-----------------------|
D------------------------------------------------------------|
Then pick that last part up and down a few times, and back to
the beginning and do it once more. Then go back into the main
slow part. This little part was extremely difficult so i guar-
entee that every note is not correct. That's as close as I
could get. Guitar two comes in over that part with an electric.
Guitar 2 (Peter) A little 3 note fill
e-------------|Just hold the notes and use vibrato.
b--6~-5~------|
g----------8~-|
d-------------|
a-------------|
D-------------|
The slow part continues and the part above comes back in at
about 4:52 or so. After this it gets heavy again.
Heavy Riff as the slow part stops:
e--------------------------------------------------|
b--------------------------------------------------|
g------------------------\7-7~---------------------|
d-0--3--5--(5)\-7--0-----------6--5~---0-5p0--3-5--|x3
a-0--3--5--(5)\-7--0-------------------------------|
D-0--3--5--(5)\-7--0-------------------------------|
That happens three times before before the following lick
comes in, and then the entire thing is repeated s few times.
e----------------------------------------------------------|
b--------------------------before-the-song-->--------------|
g----------------7-8-------changes-riffs--->>---8-7-9-7----|
d--8--5--7--3--5-----6-----this-little-lick->--5-----5-6---|
a--8--5--7--3--------------comes-in--------->--------------|
D--8--5--7--3---------------------------------3------------|
Instead of hitting that F chord (333) just hit the f note
as indicated with just the "3"; and then that little running
riff. Then, immediately after, comes:
e---------------------------------------------------------|
b---------------------------------------------------------|
g--99999999--88888888-------------------------------------|
d--99999999--88888888-------------------------------------|
a--77777777--66666666---121212--111111-10-0000--7-000-----|
D-----------------------121212--111111-10-0000--7-000-----|
                                          p.m.............
I think that's done twice and then this:
e-------------------------------------------------------------|
b-------------------------------------------------------------|
g-777-666------------------------the 2nd time-----------------|
d-777-666---777--888-99-10--4-4--after-this-'4'-part-44-3-5-3-|
a-555-444---777--888-99-10--4-4--do-this-------------44-3-5-3-|
D-----------777--888-99-10--4-4----------------------44-3-5-3-|
This whole thing is done twice also I think. In both sections
I tabbed exactly (or pretty close, this is for the idea just
of what I was doing) the number of times you hit the chord.
As usual, if it's right next to each other, it's to be played
as quick up & down strokes. For instance the first E chord is
8 measures or hits or whatever, just like I tabbed. If chords
are not together, do not play them as back to back up & down
strokes.
Riff directly after this section (right before solo)
e------------------------------------------------|
b------------------------------------------------|Repeat until
g------------------------------------------------|solo comes in
d-00--0-00--7b~----------------------------------|(by itslef)
a-00--0-00--7b~----------------------------------|
D-00--0-00--7b~--5\3-5/7--3p0--------------------|
  p.m.....
Then the solo. Sorry to dissapoint, but I could not tab it.
I have a decent ear for music, but it was too fast for me. I'd
say it would be a challenge for anyone. This is the first thing
it does.
e-\5-6-9--6h9p6p5---|That's about all I know. I think there
is a lot of hammering on, pulling off
and sliding back. He does this really
fast and in a scale motion and then just
runs up some scale that I don't know.
Then the earlier rhthym of the "799" "688" plays back
through. After that a NEW part comes in! Yay!
Guitar 1 (Mikeal)(accoustic rhythm)
e---------------------|Those are the two chords. The rhythm
b-6-----9-------------|is very easy. The next guitar is the
g-7----10-------------|important part to get down.
d-7----10-------------|
a-5-----8-------------|
D---------------------|
Guitar 2 (Peter)(electric lead riff over accoustic part)
e-------------------------------------------------------|
b-------------------------------------------------------|
g--7~--9-10--6~-------7~-9h10-(10)\12--10-9-10~~(10)p9~-|
d---------------7---------------------------------------|
a-------------------------------------------------------|
D-------------------------------------------------------|
This is done a few times. Then (and this is how you can
remember) the bass does it's slapping part which is very
distinct while the guitar does it's next part.
Electric part with the funky bass:
e-----------------------------------------|
b-----------------------------------------|
g-\11~--13--7----\8-6-7-------------------|
d-------------7---------4-0-3-\5-0--------|
a-----------------------4-0-3-\5-0--------|
D-----------------------4-0-3-\5-0--------|
Another electric guitar may be doing this:
*
d------------------------------|And then back to that "403\50"
a-9-11--5--0--6--4--5----------|
D-0--0--0--0--0--0--0----------|
This is repeated until it stops and the accoustic guitar
that has been playing the whole time (same two chords) plays
by itself (does the progression twice). Then this riff comes
in.
Next heavy riff:
e----------------------------|This keeps on going
b----------------------------|toward the end and gets faster
g----------------------------|as the drums speed up. He is
d-12--7--10--6--7--5--3--0---|still singing also.
a-12--7--10--6--7--5--3--0---|
D-12--7--10--6--7--5--3--0---|
*One variation is when instead of that open chord at the end,
after the threes slide back up to the fives. He switches.*
Then this last riff comes in before the ending:
e--------------------------------------|Another electric is
b--------------------------------------|doing some other stuff.
g-----------5-----5--------------------|I'm pretty sure it's
d-0---0-4-5---4h5----4h5p4p0-----------|just one or two notes
a-0------------------------------------|with feedback effect.
D-0------------------------------------|
And the ending with the picking part.
*                                         *
e----------0--------------------------------|
b----6---------------------10---------------|
g--7--7--7--7-------10-9------9-------------|
d---7--7--7--7----10----10-----10-----------|First part
a-5-----5--------8--------8------8----------|
D-------------------------------------------|
Continued...
*                                      *
e----------0-----------------------------|
b----6-----------------------------------|
g--7--7--7--7-------10-9-------8-7-------|Second part
d---7--7--7--7----10----10----8---8------|
a-5-----5--------8--------8--6-----6-----|
D----------------------------------------|
Then that is all repeated until the song fades out. If that is
not the exact picking pattern, it is the same two accoustic
chords that were played earlier (with the addition of '688')
So you can use those to find the correct picking pattern,
although I'm pretty sure that's at least almost exact.
Music Key:
~ use vibrato or sustain
b bend the note
\ slide up
/ slide down
h hammer on
p pull off
()the note is held and still ringing
x muted string on mufled note
p.m. palm mute
and if the notes or chords are right next to each other, it's
meant for simultaneuous strumming (up & down)

Well that's all folks. Sorry about the solo. I tried and tried
and tried. :( If somone knows it, feel free to make an addition
to mine.
If anyone has any questions, comments, thank yous, insults,
just e-mail me. Thanx.
